WHO WE ARE
The Women’s Music Alliance (WMA) is a grassroots movement dedicated to building an equitable music industry for women and gender-diverse creatives. Through women focused community events, we create space to amplify underrepresented voices, provide opportunities and spark lasting professional connections.
WMA is committed to making the music industry a safer and more equitable place for women and gender expansive individuals.
WHY WE EXIST
The music industry has long been shaped by inequality — from who gets heard to who holds power behind the scenes. WMA stands as a collective response: a movement built to challenge that imbalance by empowering the next generation of artists, producers, engineers, and executives who identify as women.
More than half of women in music report experiencing gender discrimination. Work related abuse or harassment is cited as a career barrier for two-thirds of women in the music industry. (BBC, 2024)
WHAT WE DO
We connect women artists, producers, songwriters, and organizers through events, mentorship, and collaboration — centering feminine values like sustainability, community, and care. From skill-building workshops to showcases, panels and festivals, we amplify underrepresented voices and foster spaces where creativity and cooperation thrives over competition. Together, we’re reshaping the music industry, one connection at a time. Our flagship showcase series celebrating women songwriters – featuring live performances, industry networking and community building. Launching in Toronto CA and expanding to Montreal, NYC and beyond.
